Alexandria Police Investigate Bank Robbery

The Alexandria Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are investigating a robbery that occurred today at the SunTrust Bank at 1650 King Street in Alexandria. There were no injuries.

Around 2:04 p.m., a suspect entered the bank, approached a teller and passed a demand note. The victim teller complied and the suspect then fled from the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No weapon was seen.

The suspect is described as a black male in his early 30s, 5-feet 6-inches to 5-feet 8-inches tall, with a thin, unshaven face, and wearing a black open-faced ski type mask, a black jacket and light-colored blue jeans.

Detectives on the scene learned that a subject matching the description of the robbery suspect entered the PNC Bank at 1700 Daingerfield Road just prior to the SunTrust robbery. No robbery occurred at PNC. Both banks are in close proximity of one another.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Criminal Investigations Section of the Alexandria Police Department at 703.838.4444 or 703.838.4711.
