CITY OF ALEXANDRIA INVITES PUBLIC INPUT IN SEARCH FOR NEW PLANNING DIRECTOR

The City of Alexandria is asking the public to participate in the process of recruiting a new Director of Planning and Zoning by completing an online survey to define the qualities and experience they believe the new director should have. Alexandria City Manager James K. Hartmann announced the public input effort in a report to the City Council Tuesday evening.

“The Director of Planning and Zoning is one of the most important executives in the City,” said Hartmann. “The decisions and recommendations made by our chief planner will determine the City’s future for generations to come. We want to make sure the candidates we recruit reflect the priorities and perceptions of the people of Alexandria.”

Alliance Resource Consulting LLC, one of the nation’s premier public sector executive recruiting firms, is conducting the nationwide search for the new planning director. Headquartered in Long Beach, California, Alliance Resource Consulting has developed an outstanding reputation and has built lasting relationships with its government and nonprofit clients by finding the highest quality candidates to fill available positions.

“We are honored to have this opportunity to assist the City of Alexandria in recruiting its next Director of Planning and Zoning,” said Alliance Resource Consulting Managing Partner Eric Middleton. “Alexandria is a special place. We will use the results of the online survey to help us find the best possible candidates for this prestigious and important position.”

Persons interested in assisting the City’s search for a new Planning Director should complete the survey or visit the City’s website at www.alexandriava.gov.

“This voluntary survey is another great example of the wonderful cooperation the City of Alexandria receives from our residents and businesses,” said City Manager Hartmann. “I want to thank the people of Alexandria for taking the time to participate in this important effort.”
