Alexandria Police Identify Homicide Victim

Alexandria police have identified the victim of Saturday morning’s suspicious death as Darnell Brown, a 22-year-old Fort Washington, Maryland man. Police were called to the 400 block of North Columbus Street at approximately 4:00 A.M. on Saturday for the report of a man sleeping in the street. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

The victim suffered trauma to the head. An autopsy performed today has determined the manner of death to be homicide. The cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head.

A suspect has not been identified and a motive for the crime has not been determined.

This is the sixth homicide in Alexandria this year. There were five murders in Alexandria last year.
