City of Alexandria Sponsors Free Financial Information Fair
Event Held in Recognition of Mayors’ National Dollar Wi$e Week

The City of Alexandria and Mayor William D. Euille, in cooperation with the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ National Dollar Wi$e Campaign, invites residents to attend a free Financial Information Fair on Tuesday, September 25, from 4 to 8 p.m., to learn more about money management, financial planning, and the importance of financial literacy. The event will be located at the Northern Virginia Community College’s Rachel M. Schlesinger Center, 3001 N. Beauregard St.

The Financial Information Fair is being held in recognition of the Mayors’ National Dollar Wi$e Week, September 24-29. During this week, Mayor Euille and his fellow mayors across the country have agreed to organize and implement local financial literacy programs in their communities. With improved financial literacy, residents will be in a better position to avoid debt and bankruptcy, and to own homes, develop financially savvy decision-making skills, educate their families, and invest in small business.

Organizations supporting the Financial Information Fair include the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce, Alexandria City Public Schools, Alexandria Consumer Affairs Commission, ALIVE! (Alexandrians Involved Ecumenically), Citibank, ECDC Enterprise Development Group, Federal Citizen Information Center, Martha Deal (Long and Foster), NAACP, the National Association of Retirement Counselors, Northern Virginia Community College (Alexandria Campus), U.S. Conference of Mayors, and Virginia Commerce Bank.
