City Manager Hartmann said “Laura has done a terrific job as Acting Finance Director over the last 10 months, and we look forward to her becoming a permanent member of the City’s senior management team.”

Triggs has worked for the City since 1998, when she was hired as Deputy Director of Finance and Comptroller. Prior to being employed by the City, she was Associate Chief Financial Officer for, and Chief of Staff to, Anthony Williams during his tenure as Chief Financial Officer of the District of Columbia. Williams later served for two terms as Mayor of the District of Columbia. Laura also worked for the District of Columbia’s Financial Control Board and helped the District back to sound financial management. Her career also has included serving as an audit manager at the U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO) and as a Senior Manager for KPMG Peat Marwick. Triggs, who is also licensed as a Certified Public Accountant, earned her B.B.A. from Southwestern University.
