CITY OF ALEXANDRIA ANNOUNCES SCHEDULE OF SERVICES FOR MONDAY, JANUARY 15, FOR MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR., DAY
State Offices Also Closed on Friday, January 12, for Lee-Jackson Day


City government offices, including the administrative offices of the Alexandria Police Department, will be closed on Monday, January 15, in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Full police patrol and emergency services will be in place during the holiday.

In accordance with Virginia State Law, the Alexandria Police Department will suspend enforcement of parking restrictions at metered spaces, as well as time restrictions in residential permit parking districts and other areas with signed parking time limits, on Friday, January 12, and Monday, January 15. All other parking regulations will be in effect. Additionally, HOV restrictions on Washington Street and Route 1 will be lifted on Friday, January 12 and Monday, January 15.

The Treasury and Revenue Divisions of the Finance Department, which are regularly open on Saturday mornings for payment of property taxes and parking tickets, will be closed on Saturday, January 13, and Monday, January 15.

Residential trash and recycling collection services scheduled for Monday, January 15, will occur on Tuesday, January 16, and collection services regularly scheduled for Tuesday, January 16, will occur on Wednesday, January 17. Residential trash and recycling collection services regularly scheduled for Wednesday, January 17, will occur on Thursday, January 18, and collection services regularly scheduled for Thursday, January 18, will occur on Friday, January 19.

City schools will be closed on Monday, January 15.

On Monday, January 15, Charles Houston, Cora Kelly, Nannie J. Lee, Mount Vernon and William Ramsay recreation centers will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Charles Barrett and Patrick Henry recreation centers will be closed on Monday, January 15. Chinquapin Park Recreation Center will be open from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., on Monday, January 15.

City libraries will be closed on Monday, January 15.

DASH bus service will operate on a Saturday schedule on Monday, January 15.

State offices in Alexandria, including the Circuit, General District, and Juvenile and Domestic Relations District courts, the Clerk of Court Office, and the Alexandria Health Department, will be closed on Friday, January 12, in observance of the Lee-Jackson holiday and on Monday, January 15 in observance of the King holiday.
