Please take notice that there was a Special Meeting of City Council held on Tuesday, March 18, 1997, at 7:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber of City Hall, Alexandria, Virginia, for the purpose of considering the following item.

OPENING
1. Calling the Roll.
The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Donley, and the City Clerk called the Roll; all Members of City Council were present.

2. Presentation of The Proposed Annual Operating Budget for FY 1997-98 (including Schools) and The Proposed Capital Improvements Program for FY 1998-2003 (including the Schools CIP).
Mayor Donley read a letter from City Manager Lawson who was unable to be present due to being hospitalized with a kidney infection.
Management and Budget Director Godwin, on behalf of the City Manager, presented the Budget Message.
General Discussion. Members of Council directed questions to Director Godwin, made comments, and congratulated staff for doing a good job.

WITHOUT OBJECTION, the meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.
