Please take notice that City Council held a Special Public Hearing Meeting on the Proposed Budget on Tuesday, April 17, 2001, at 4:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber of City Hall, 301 King Street, Alexandria, Virginia, for the purpose of considering the following items.

1. Calling the Roll.

The Meeting was called to order by Mayor Donley, and the City Clerk called the Roll; all Members of City Council were present, with Councilwoman Eberwein arriving at 4:45 p.m.

2. Public Hearing on The Proposed Annual Operating Budget for FY 2002 (including Schools) and The Proposed Capital Improvements Program for FY 2002-2007 (including the School CIP). (#8 3/13/01)

Councilwoman Pepper requested Barry Schiftic to provide Council with a memorandum providing details pertaining to his request(s).

Staff will report back to Council with respect to: Historic Alexandria Foundation request; First Night request, and with the request to place it on the add/delete list; child care provider hourly rate and issues raised; track initiative that was raised; and issues raised by union representatives.

The public hearing was held and concluded. City Council will adopt the budget on Monday, May 7, 2001.

3. Public Hearing on AN ORDINANCE to establish the real estate and personal property tax rates for calendar year 2001. (#19 3/27/00)

The public hearing was held and concluded. Second Reading and Final Passage of the Ordinance will be held on Monday, May 7, 2001.
