Members of City Council will be attending the annual General Assembly Legislative Day sponsored by the Virginia Municipal League and the Virginia Association of Counties on February 5, 1998, at the Richmond Marriott Hotel, 5th and Broad Streets, Richmond, Virginia.

The day includes a legislative update beginning at 2:00 p.m., followed by a reception starting at 5:30 p.m., with dinner with the legislative delegation at 6:30 p.m. at the Marriott.

It is anticipated that more than two members of Council will be attending.

A. Update on City Package Legislation:

HB 377 - Increases maximum fine for violations of the pipeline safety laws
HB 390 - Increases penalties for stealing State automobile safety inspection stickers
HB 391- Stalking and stalking protective orders
HB 392- Increases the penalties for stalking (same as SB 50)
HB 1142- Authorizes localities to regulate taxicab stand dues
SB 50- Increases the penalties for stalking (same as HB 392)
SB 301- Authorizes the sale of special State license plates commemorating the 250th anniversary of the City’s founding
SJ 22- Study membership in the Virginia Retirement System for part-time employees
SJ 176- Study gender discrimination in college sports
