City Council authorized staff to proceed with a Request For Proposals for the selection of a contract provider for a rubber-tired trolley service from the King Street Metrorail Station to Del Ray and Arlandria by endorsing Option 4: King Street Metro Station to Russell Road to Mount Vernon Avenue via Commonwealth Avenue. (c) Mayor Euille requested that all Councilmembers submit two or three names for appointment to the citizen positions for the Beauregard Rezoning Advisory Group by the middle of next week. (d) Vice Mayor Donley noted that he and Mayor Euille suggested using members from City Council appointed boards and commissions because there are individuals with areas of expertise that will be needed by the Advisory Group and offered further explanation of the draft memorandum distributed to Council. (e) Mayor Euille congratulated Police Chief Earl Cook who recently graduated from the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) Academy in Quantico.
